Employee Mental Health, Work-Life Balance, and Wellbeing in Bangladesh - Seminar at East West University

On 5th August 2025, the EMBA & MBA Programs at East West University organized a seminar titled "Employee Mental Health, Work-Life Balance, and Wellbeing in Bangladesh." Conducted just before the presentation, the seminar aimed to highlight the critical issues surrounding mental health, work-life balance, and employee well-being in the context of Bangladesh's workforce.

Held in Room 223 from 6:30 PM to 7:30 PM, the seminar was led by Dr. Maleeha Sheefa, a Consultant for Routine Immunization Coverage and Equity at UNICEF, USA. Dr. Sheefa shared valuable insights into the global and national significance of mental health at work, explaining how it affects productivity and employee retention.

The session also focused on work-life balance. Dr. Sheefa discussed the mental health crisis in Bangladesh and the challenges posed by long working hours, especially in sectors such as banking, garments, and academia.

In her talk, Dr. Sheefa highlighted the economic effects of poor mental health, including high turnover, absenteeism, and decreased productivity, as well as its emotional toll on employees. She suggested practical solutions for employers.

The EMBA & MBA Programs would like to thank Dr. Sheefa for her valuable contributions and all participants for their active engagement. This seminar reaffirmed East West University’s commitment to supporting mental health and employee well-being in professional environments.
