Research InFocus, Session 6: Seminar on ‘‘Impact of Manager’s Soft Skill Practices on Employee Job Performance Mediated by Employee Trust in RMG Sector of Bangladesh’’.

On Thursday, March 7th, 2024, from 12:15 PM to 1:30 PM, the Department of Business Administration (DBA) organized its regular seminar series Research InFocus, Session 6. The seminar title was ‘‘Impact of Manager’s Soft Skill Practices on Employee Job Performance Mediated by Employee Trust in RMG Sector of Bangladesh’’.  Assistant Professor Dr. Md. Atiqur Rahman Sarker presented his research work followed by a discussion among the faculty members.

Since soft skills practices in the manufacturing-based industry is often ignored, grievance among employees is common. The RMG sector in Bangladesh was the focal point of the study where labour unrest takes place regularly that affects the productivity of the business. The findings of this study showed that an RMG manager’s leadership ability and communication skills carry a positive significant effect on building employee trust and consequently increase employee job performance. Findings derived from this study will reveal the necessity and importance of practicing soft skills managers in the manufacturing sector like RMG. It will also facilitate future comparative studies between service and production sectors from cross-cultural perspectives. HR practitioners and policymakers will be more concerned of practicing and improving soft skills for production efficiency. In the big picture, this study’s findings will enable the RMG management to mitigate labour unrest, improve employment relations, and propel growth in a holistic approach.
