As part of its continuing effort to integrate classroom learning with industry practice, the Finance Discipline of the Department of Business Administration, East West University, organized a guest lecture for the students of FIN465: International Financial Management on 29 July 2026 at the Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery. The guest speaker was Mr. Rajib Hossain Raju, Vice President, Foreign Exchange Branch, United Commercial Bank PLC (UCB PLC). An alumnus of East West University, Mr. Raju has extensive professional experience in foreign exchange operations, international trade finance, and cross-border banking transactions.

The program commenced with a welcome address by Professor Dr. Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury, who highlighted the importance of bridging classroom learning with industry practice and welcomed the guest speaker.

Drawing on his professional experience, Mr. Raju discussed the practical aspects of foreign exchange management, including import and export financing, letters of credit (LCs), inward and outward remittances, foreign exchange regulations, exchange rate risk, and compliance requirements. He also highlighted the role of commercial banks in facilitating international trade and demonstrated how concepts covered in the International Financial Management course are applied in day-to-day banking operations. Through practical examples and real-life cases, he illustrated the challenges and opportunities associated with managing international financial transactions in Bangladesh.

The lecture concluded with an engaging question-and-answer session, during which students interacted with the speaker on current trends in international banking, career opportunities in foreign exchange operations, and the evolving landscape of global finance. The event offered students a valuable opportunity to gain firsthand industry perspectives while reinforcing the practical relevance of their academic learning.
