Industrial Tour at Akij Group, Krisnopura, Dhamrai, Dhaka, Spring – 2024
The industrial tour of Akij Food and Beverages made a significant impact on the students at East West University. It provided valuable insight into the operations of the industry, offering firsthand experience to the students. The visit sparked curiosity and inspired students to explore career opportunities in the field of food and beverages.
The study tour organized by the Department of Business Administration (DBA) at East West University (EWU) to Akij Food and Beverages was a landmark event for the final-year students, forming a critical part of their MGT-480 (Strategic Management) course curriculum. This meticulously planned visit, occurring on the 9th and 11th of May 2024, involved an impressive gathering of 260 students alongside 15 faculty members from DBA, aiming to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical business operations. The tour was designed not merely as an observational excursion but as a platform for immersive learning, offering students a firsthand look into the complexities of the food and beverage industry. The factory visit was structured to cover the entire spectrum of the manufacturing process, a feature that distinguished it from standard educational trips. Under the guidance of the factory's seasoned professionals, students navigated through various departments, witnessing the transformation of raw materials into finished products. This direct observation of the production line offered them a unique perspective on efficient manufacturing practices and quality control procedures integral to the food and beverage industry.
Interacting with industry professionals added another layer of enrichment to their learning journey. The insightful session was expertly conducted by Mr. ANM Kharullah, the Admin Head, Mr. Md Emadul Haque, the Training and Development Head, and Mahmudul Hassan Pabel, an HR professional. Their guidance ensured that the students gained invaluable insights into the operational intricacies of Akij Food and Beverages. Their expertise and leadership ensured that the students received a comprehensive understanding of the manufacturing processes at Akij Food and Beverages. These encounters offered invaluable glimpses into the diverse career pathways and the dynamic nature of the industry itself. The involvement of these professionals underscored the tour’s objective of connecting academia with industry and enriching the students’ educational experience with real-world applications.
Moreover, the study tour was emblematic of East West University's innovative approach to education, emphasizing the importance of experiential learning.
