EWU Hosts Seminar on 'Modern HR Adopting to a Changing Workforce'
A Seminar on 'Modern HR Adopting to a Changing Workforce' was hosted by the Department of Business Administration at the East West University. The session was arranged at the S. M. Nousher Ali Lecture Gallery at the Aftabnagar campus. The event, oriented towards the evolving landscape of modern HR was widely participated by students pursuing their foundational HRM course from the university.
The session featured Ms. Tasnia Kabir, an expert discussant in the field of modern HR. Currently serving as the Senior Manager - Talent Management at the SMEC International Pty Limited, Ms. Kabir is the former HR Manager for the British Council. Her earlier experience at the Philip Morris Bangladesh Limited as People & Culture Specialist contributed to her strong foundation in people operations and talent development.
Ms. Kabir introduced the key concepts of human resource management from the lens of an industry insider before moving into the modern reality of HR. Guided by recent research findings, the session provided insights on challenges employers face in connecting to the young generation, and the steps taken towards mitigating this gap. Ms. Kabir emphasized on the perspective of Gen-Z, which is the generation of the students present. It allowed the audience to learn about the evolving Gen-Z mindset about work styles and values and how it may differ with the expectations of industry employers.
One of the distinguishing aspects of the seminar was the focus on interaction with students. Students got to ask their questions and convey insights on topics like employer expectations and interview skills while also participating in discussion through the Mentimeter tool. The event was well received by the attendees who appreciated industry insights into the changing realities of both employees and employers through the lens of modern HR.
The Department of Business Administration organized the event, moderated by Ms. Shabiha Afrin Sharna, Lecturer at the East West University.
