EWU Hosts Seminar on 'The Economic, Social, and Political Impact of AI'
A seminar on 'The Economic, Social, and Political Impact of AI' was arranged by the Department of Business Administration, East West University on 28th January 2026. The session was organized at the Razia Samad Lecture Gallery at the university campus. The session, oriented towards the growing influence of artificial intelligence focused on its impact spanning beyond the technological realm.
The session featured Mr. Akhter Matin Chaudhury, an esteemed professional in the field of accountancy and corporate governance. He is a Fellow and Life Member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants (ICA) in England and Wales, a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Bangladesh (ICAB) and the Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB). He is currently serving as a partner at MABS&J Partners, a Dhaka based chartered accountancy firm along with playing the role of an Independent Director at WALTON Hi-Tech Industries PLC.
Mr. Chaudhury spoke on several insightful topics related to artificial intelligence, incorporating the integration of AI with quantum technology, modern warfare, healthcare industry and even driverless vehicles. Additionally, the speaker underscored the challenges associated with artificial intelligence, showcasing its effect on the future of economy, society and politics. The session encouraged the audience to ponder on the ethical ramifications of such rapid development as well. One of the distinguishing aspects of the seminar was the special guest attendee, Professor Dr. Nashid Kamal. She is the former Dean of School of Business, Primeasia University and currently, an Adjunct Faculty at BRAC University. Professor Kamal is an accomplished academician as well as being a renowned Nazrul exponent. Faculty members from the Department of Business Administration were also present for the duration of the seminar.
At the end of the hour-long session, students and faculties were invited to ask questions. The audience also got the opportunity to convey insights on topics like unemployment resulting from AI and what the future may look like in the age of artificial intelligence. The session came to an end with the guests being presented with tokens of appreciation from the East West University. Mr. Chaudhury and Professor Kamal conveyed their gratitude for the hospitality and encouraged the EWU students to aim for excellence.
