DBA, EWU and Picard Bangladesh Ltd. Hosts HRM-413 Students for an Insightful Industrial Visit
As part of the academic curriculum for HRM-413 (Industrial Relations & Labour Law), the Department of Business Administration (DBA) at East West University (EWU) organized an industrial visit for students to Picard Bangladesh Ltd., a prominent name in the country's industrial sector. The visit took place on 9th August 2025, with 43 students enrolled in the Industrial Relations & Labour Law (HRM-413) course participating.
The students and faculty members received a warm welcome from the Picard’s officials and management, who then escorted them to the learning room. There, a formal introductory session was held, where a note of appreciation was presented to the Picard Bangladesh for their hospitality and contribution to the students' learning experiences as part of SDG-3, The UN. The visit also ensured industry academia collaboration on a regular basis to a factory premise where good governance is visible.
Key highlights of the visit included interactions with the HR & Admin Head, HR Head, Head of Compliance and their officials from Picard Bangladesh Ltd, and Dr. Md. Atiqur Rahman Sarker (Asscoiate Professor, DBA, EWU), Mr. Abdullah Al Sayed (Lecturer, DBA, EWU). The students were given a thorough briefing on the company’s operations, history, and role in the industry.
After the session, the group enjoyed a delightful lunch before embarking on a guided tour of the factory's production units. The students had the opportunity to witness the various stages of production, including skinning and cutting processes on the production floor. Additionally, they gained insights into the operations of the jumper team and observed the step-by-step packaging process, which plays a crucial role in maintaining product quality and efficiency.
The students actively participated in the Q&A session, posing insightful questions about production methods and systems. The company’s officials were thorough in their responses, providing students with a deeper understanding of the practical application of industrial concepts in a real-world setting as Kaizen Heroes (as they are professionally certified).
The day concluded with a relaxing tea session at Picard, where students had the opportunity to socialize and reflect on their experiences. This industrial tour was a valuable learning opportunity, offering students practical insights into production and operational management. It significantly enriched their academic journey and deepened their understanding of business practices within the industrial sector.
