Students get mental assistance through “Meeting of Minds”

In a time where the world’s economy is falling apart, the mental health of individuals is also taking a back seat. Therefore, to address this concern, East West University Creative Marketing Club (EWUCMC) organized a unique Facebook live session titled “Meeting of Minds” which was held on 29th June, 2020 at 8 PM. The event marked the presence of three eminent guest from different professions who came together to share their views on COVID-19, Mental Health and how universities are playing a role in contributing to the positive development of the economy.

The reputed guests of this session were Dr. Farhana Ferdousi, Chairperson & Associate Professor Department of Business Administration, East West University, Dr. Hassan Shahriar Kallol, Assistant Professor (Surgery), Mugda Medical College and Hospital and lastly, Dr. Sharika Tasnim, Asst. Clinical Psychologist, Nasirullah Psychotherapy Unit, University of Dhaka & Consultant Psychologist at ARC & Monochikitshaloy. The live show was hosted by Nusrat Jahan Trisha, Treasurer, EWUCMC.

Dr. Farhana Ferdousi talked about the initiatives East West University has inaugurated, concerning the student matters to smooth the education system and the steps they have taken for the continuous development of the students during this pandemic period. The most crucial guideline was then given by Dr. Hassan Shahriar Kallol. He shared his views on how one can remain safe and healthy with balanced food chart and selfcare. Moreover, he gave insights about the necessary steps that one can take to prevent the transmission of the virus while being in quarantine. Lastly, Dr Sharika Tasnim shared her insights regarding mental health by providing some instructions about several activities that one can carry out to keep their mind positive and free from monotony.

In conclusion, “Meeting of Minds” has been the bridge between students and professionals by closing the gap of information. East West University Creative Marketing Club hopes to bring on such sessions, in order to cater to the needs of the students so that they’re able to get proper treatment that they require during this pandemic period.
