East West University Economics Club (EWUEC) arranged an intra university competition “Econ Policy ver1.1” which was open for all the students of the university. A total of 15 teams comprising of 3 participants   participated in the 1^st round which took place on 21^st and 22^nd March 2017. All the participating teams came up with different policies related to the economy of Bangladesh and evaluated those policies in their own terms.

The event was inaugurated with the speech and presentation of Dr. Syed Abul Basher, Chairperson, Department of Economics .After the 1^st round, 6 groups were shortlisted on the basis of each group’s topic of the paper, presentation and question & answer session by the judges for the 2^nd round.

The groups and their presented policies are as follows:

1. Panda and Troops – Jute industry of Bangladesh
2. The Explorers – The Era of Freelancing in Bangladesh
3. Mighty Girls – Gender Equality under SDG-5
4. Team Inception – Remittance fall in Bangladesh
5. Seven minus Four – Exposition of GDP and Growth in the Economy of Bangladesh
6. The Greatest – Skill Development for Economic Growth

The 2^nd round took place at the “S M Nousher Ali lecture” Gallery, room # 126 on 27^th March 2017. The teams were provided with topics and the judge panel was formed by the honorable faculty members of the Department of Economics, Business Administration and Social Relations.

After the 2^nd round, a total of 4 teams reached the final round that will be held on 13^th  April, 2017 where Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Chairperson, Board of Trustees and Professor M. M. Shahidul Hassan, PhD, Vice Chancellor of East West University are expected to remain present as well as enlighten the contestants and audiences with their wisdoms.
