Dr. Shabiha Akter currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Finance in the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Business and Economics, at East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She joined the university in February 2022. Dr. Akter completed her PhD at Taylor’s University, Malaysia, under the Taylor’s University PhD Research Scholarship. During her doctoral studies, she also worked as a tutor for three years at the same institution. Prior to her PhD, she earned both her Master's and undergraduate degrees from the Department of Finance & Banking at Rajshahi University, Bangladesh.
Dr. Akter’s research interests encompass areas such as microfinance, banking, financial inclusion, economic development, the efficiency and stability of financial institutions, development finance, and financial sustainability. She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals indexed in databases like Web of Science, Scopus, ABDC, and ABS, and her work has been featured by prestigious publishers such as Elsevier, Emerald, Inderscience, and Springer. Additionally, she has contributed a book chapter to IGI Global (USA). Dr. Akter actively reviews journal articles within her areas of expertise.
