EWU Students Present Research on Environmental Sustainability at ICSD 2026

Imtiaz Ahmed, along with co-author Irfan Sakib Bhuiyan, presented their research paper titled “Turning Brackish: Salinity-Driven Mangrove and Fisheries Decline in the Bangladesh Sundarbans” at the International Conference on Sustainable Development (ICSD 2026), held on April 11–12, 2026 at United International University (UIU), Dhaka.

As the first author, Imtiaz Ahmed led the research process, including data collection, analysis, and manuscript preparation, while the co-author contributed during the presentation phase. The study addresses a critical environmental challenge affecting coastal ecosystems in Bangladesh, demonstrating strong academic rigor and a commitment to sustainable development.

In addition, Imtiaz Ahmed, in collaboration with co-author Md. Saif Sikder, presented another research paper titled “Greening to Earn: Vertical Gardens as Employment Pathways in Dhaka’s Air-Polluted Informal Settlements” at the same conference.

For this research, Imtiaz Ahmed again served as the first author and led the entire process from data collection to final drafting, while the co-author supported the presentation. This study highlights innovative and sustainable urban solutions, contributing to ongoing discussions on environmental resilience and employment generation in developing cities.
