SAARC Literature Award

Md. Kamrul Hassan, Assistant Professor, Department of Business Administration and a well known poet and writer, has been honoured by the prestigious SAARC Literature Award 2025 for his creative endeavours. The award is annually given to prominent writers from the SAARC Countries by the Foundation of SAARC Writers and Literature (FOSWAL) based in New Delhi, India. 

In the Citation FOSWAL has mentioned the following:

"A poet with more than a dozen published books, Mr. Kamrul Hassan has established his place in Bangladesh Literature with his poetry, short stories, articles and translations. He is also an established editor. Widely travelled all over the world, he has attended numerous literary meetings. He teaches management in Dhaka.

FOSWAL is grateful to him for accepting our humble SAARC Writers and Literature Award."

In the prize giving ceremonies the High Commissioners of Bangladesh to India Mr. M Riaz Hamidullah, the High Commissioner of Sri Lanka Ms. Mahishini Colonne, eminent intellectual Professor Dr. Ashis Nandy, Sahitya Academy President Dr. Madhav Kaushik and President of FOSWAL Smt. Ajeet Cour was present. 

Since its inception in 1988, FOSWAL has honoured many famous poets and writers from the South Asian countries. Poet Shamsur Rahman is the first receipient from Bangldesh. Among other noted poets and writers who have received this prestigious award includes Selina Hossain, Mohammad Nurul Huda, Syed Manzoorul Islam, Fakrul Alam, Bimal Guha etc. This year the other Bangladedhi writer who has received the Award is Faridur Rahman.
