Webinar on Corporate Tax organised by Accounting Discipline

As a part of our commitment towards creating competent accounting graduates who can face the challenges of the professional world, the Accounting discipline of the Department of Business Administration had arranged a webinar on Corporate Tax on 21 May, 2021 for the students who are currently doing major in accounting.

The keynote presenter of the webinar was Md. Akber Hossain Khan, FCA, who is the CEO of Khan Akber & Co., a professional chartered accountants farm. Mr. Khan is also a Fellow of the Institute of Public Accountants, Australia (FIPA), and the Institute of Financial Accountants, UK (FFA). The two hours long webinar focused fully on the critical domains of corporate taxation in Bangladesh with special compliance issues that would be helpful for the accounting students. The goal of the session was to help students understand the concepts of corporate tax planning and provide them in-depth knowledge on determining the most tax effective structure for business. With his vast experience in accounting arena and eloquence, the speaker enlightened the minds of audience who were both receptive and appreciative.

Dr. Anup Chowdhury, Professor of Accounting and the former Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, encouraged the students with his presence. Dr. Nikhil Chandra Shil, Associate Professor and Coordinator of MBA, EMBA program of East West University delivered the welcome speech. Faculty members from the accounting discipline, Md. Rashedul Islam, Assistant Professor; Nazmul Hassan, Senior Lecturer; Tania Hamid, Senior Lecturer; RehnumaHoqueMoutushi, Senior Lecturer; Fatema-Tuz-Johra, Lecturer and Md. Shafiqul Islam, Lecturer were present in the webinar. With the participation of a good number of students from accounting major who have special interest in taxation, the webinar saw an admirable success. The Accounting discipline of DBA, EWU will continue to invite renowned professionals from the accounting field to impart job market oriented skills that graduates require beyond their usual academic knowledge. The webinar ended with a heartfelt vote of thanks from Dr. Nikhil Chandra Shill.
