Dr. Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury is working as a Professor at Department of Business Administration & Director, Executive Development Centre (EDC), East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Regarding his professional experience, he has been in teaching profession at university level over 29 years. He has been working at East West University since 2000. Before joining East West University he worked at the Department of Management, Faculty of Business Administration, Islamic University, Kushtia for about 9 years. Professor Tanbir also served as Adjunct Professor in MBA & EMBA programs at Institute of Business Administration (IBA ) , University of Dhaka, Independent University Bangladesh (IUB), Eastern University and Notre Dame University, Bangladesh.
Professor Tanbir Ahmed Chowdhury served at East West University in different administrative positions, such as Dean of the Faculty of Business and Economics, Acting Treasurer, Chairperson of the Department of Business Administration, Coordinator of MBA & EMBA Programs and Proctor.
Regarding his educational background, he pursued Ph.D in Financial Management & Quantitative techniques from University of Pune, India in 1996 under Indian Govt. Scholarships. He completed Post Graduate Fellowship under US State Govt. Fellowship from School of Education of the Pennsylvania State University, USA in 2006. He also pursued B.Com (Hons.) in Finance and M.Com in Finance & Banking from Department of Finance, University of Dhaka.
About 40 of his articles have been published in different peer reviewed international & local journals. He also completed 2 Research Monographs sponsored by University Grants Commission of Bangladesh and East West University Center of Research & Training. He also participated in different international seminars/workshops as speaker of the session and session chair. Dr. Tanbir received Prominent Researcher Award from East West University and was honored by the Bangladesh Finance Association, University of Dhaka for his teaching and research carrier. Professor Tanbir also worked as an External Referee of about 30 PhD candidates of different international universities of his home country and abroad.
Other than teaching, he worked as Sub- Project Manager of the project entitled “Optimizing class room learning through understanding students’ psychology”, Under Higher Education Quality Enhancement Program (HEQEP) from June 2014 to December 2016. This project was financed by the World Bank through University Grants Commission of Bangladesh (UGC) for the development of the Department of Business Administration, East West University. He is also working as a Director, Executive Development Centre (EDC), EWU, Skills for Employment Investment Opportunities Program (SEIP), Ministry of Finance, Government of Bangladesh.
