Silvia Akter is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Business Administration at East West University (EWU) specializing in Human Resource Management (HRM). She has been serving as an Assistant Professor since April 2018, after previously working as a Senior Lecturer, Lecturer, and Adjunct Faculty member at EWU. Before joining EWU full-time, she also taught at the Independent University, Bangladesh (IUB) and Green University of Bangladesh.
She earned her Master of Arts (MA) in International Human Resource Management from the University of East London, United Kingdom, her MBA in Human Resource Management from the University of Dhaka, and her BBA in Management from the University of Dhaka.
Silvia Akter's teaching and research focus on Strategic Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, employee motivation, employee retention, employment relationships, psychological contracts, and Green HRM. She has published numerous articles in national and international journals, including studies on expatriate management, online learning, hybrid education, decent work, employee surveillance, and HRM practices in Bangladesh.
In addition to her academic responsibilities, she served as the Moderator of the EWU Business Club for long time and actively participated in HR consultancy, professional training, and community service initiatives. She also supervises academic and career-development activities for students, including industry guest lecture sessions.
