Dr. Shabiha Akter is currently working as a Senior Lecturer of Finance at the Department of Business Administration, Faculty of Business and Economics, East West University, Dhaka, Bangladesh. She joined the University in February 2022. She pursued her PhD from Taylor’s University, Malaysia, under the Taylor’s University PhD research scholarship. Besides her PhD, she served as a tutor for three years at the same university. Earlier, Dr. Shabiha completed her Master's and undergraduate degrees from the Department of Finance & Banking, Rajshahi University, Bangladesh.
Dr. Shabiha’s research interests include microfinance, banking, financial inclusion, economic development, efficiency and stability of financial institutions, development finance, and financial sustainability. She has published several articles in peer-reviewed journals indexed in the Web of Science, Scopus, ABDC, ABS, etc., published by renowned publishers like Elsevier, Emerald, Inderscience and Springer. She has also published a book chapter with IGI Global (USA). In addition, she has been reviewing journal articles that fall within her areas of expertise.
